The Shawnee State Bear Run is a biannual event, which is held each Fall and Spring on the campus of Shawnee State University. 
Bear Run: The Shawnee State Bear Run is a biannual event, which is held each Fall and Spring on the campus of Shawnee State University. The first race occurred in Fall 1995 and has since become a huge tradition at Shawnee State. In the spring of 2017, a new course was created through the campus of Shawnee State and along the Portsmouth Ohio Murals along the Ohio River. 
Awards: Overall winner for male and female in 5k and overall winner for male and female for walkers and top 3 in age group categories.
